P0041 - Oxygen Sensor Signals Swapped Bank 1 Sensor 2 / Bank 2 Sensor 2

About Trouble Code P0041

Receiving trouble code P0041 means that the engine’s computer is recognizing swapped signals between oxygen sensor 2’s left and right banks. The check engine light in the dash will be triggered because the bank one sensor 2 signal is switched with the bank 2 sensor 2 signal.

Symptoms of Trouble Code P0041

There has been mention of poor fuel economy, an over all loss of power, hesitant running, and stalling with trouble code P0041. The check engine light will illuminate and possibly flash. The engine’s computer may put the vehicle in a limp state to prevent damage.

Causes of Trouble Code P0041

Some of the common causes of this trouble code are swapped oxygen sensor wiring between the two banks or swapped connections between the oxygen sensor 2 right and left bank. There could also be corrosion or damage to the wiring. If none of this solves the issue there could be a malfunction in the computer.

How to Fix Trouble Code P0041

You want to start with checking the wiring and connectors, for the bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 and confirm which has been swapped. After this you will want to switch the wiring or connection to the proper place. If this is not the problem, you will want to inspect all the wiring and replace any that you find to be damaged. In very rare instances you may need to replace the computer.
