Code P0018 will be triggered by the engine’s computer, when the camshaft position sensor for bank 2 does not match up to the signal coming from the crankshaft position sensor. The Powertrain Control Module uses the sensors information to control fuel injectors and ignition timing.

Symptoms of Trouble Code P0018

When this error occurs, the check engine light will come on. The driver may notice a reduction in power during acceleration or the vehicle may run erratically. Erratic driving can vary depending on the failure and the longevity of the problem. There will certainly be a decrease in fuel efficiency and there may be stalling or a feel of rough running.

Causes of Trouble Code P0018

There are a few things that can cause trouble code P0018. Mechanically stuck open or closed Oil Control Valves can cause this code to trigger. As well as, the bank 2 intake camshaft being out of position as compared to the crankshaft position.
